Professional funny people Lucille Ball and Steve Martin were named winners of 1988’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals woman and man of the year awards, Harvard University officials said Monday. The much-honored Ball will receive her traditional gold pudding pot during Harvard Square ceremonies Feb. 16, while Martin--honored by the Harvard University all-male student drama group as the “premier comedian of this generation”--will be given a parade and honorary ceremony on Feb. 23. Last year’s winners were actress-singer Bernadette Peters and dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov. The women’s award has been presented since 1951 and the man-of-the-year honor since 1967.
