Avalanches in Italy Kill 3, Strand Others

BOLZANO, Italy — Avalanches in the Italian Alps killed three people and stranded others over the weekend, authorities said Sunday.
Four skiers were stranded by a third avalanche in the region but were rescued, officials said. Authorities issued warnings against high-altitude skiing, saying conditions are ripe for avalanches after days of heavy snow.
