The World : Greece, Turkey in Accord

The prime ministers of Greece and Turkey, the long-feuding North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies, agreed at a meeting in Davos, Switzerland, to improve relations. Greece’s Andreas Papandreou and Turkey’s Turgut Ozal issued a joint statement, saying they have agreed to open a direct telephone line and to establish a Turkish-Greek chamber of commerce. They will also set up working parties on political and economic affairs and hold a meeting of the two government heads at least once a year, the statement said.
