Alec Baldwin might bring political baggage to NBC talk show

NBC might turn left -- way left -- for its next late-night host: Alec Baldwin.
The former â30 Rockâ star and outspoken liberal is in talks for a show that would most likely air in the 1:35 a.m. slot now occupied by Carson Daly, according to a report in the New York Times.
Baldwin would make an unusual pick, as heâs much more political and polarizing than your usual late-night comedy star. No matter which way Jay Leno and David Letterman lean in the voting booth, on their shows they take swipes at both sides.
With Baldwin, thereâs little doubt of his sympathies. On Wednesday, the Hollywood Reporter published an interview in which he said, âI was born toâ spit on conservative media magnate Rupert Murdoch and his empire.
Conservatives are already up in arms. On the website Big Hollywood, which offers a right-wing take on entertainment, one commenter sniped: âHow nice ! Another well-known biased left-wing extremist on NBC. Who would have thought....â
Of course, thereâs no guarantee that the deal would happen or that Baldwin wants to do such a show. When the Reporter asked if he would like a talk show, he replied: âIt depends on the format and who it was for and what the schedule was like. Those guys that do talk shows have that terrible condition where they have to pretend everybodyâs special. I donât know if I could do that.â
What do you think of Baldwin and his proposed talk show?
